W-Sitting Intervention

What It Is:

W-sitting is when a child sits with their legs in a W shape — knees forward, feet back and out to the sides.

Why It Matters:

This position can limit core activation and place strain on hips and knees — often used as a crutch for poor balance.

How Prairie Grit Helps:

  • Education and awareness for families

  • Core and hip strengthening

  • Alternative seated posture training

  • Functional play-based activities
