One ROOF. One Team
Prairie Grit Therapy is located inside the Minot Family YMCA.
If your child already comes here for occupational, physical, or speech therapy, counseling is down the hall. Same building. Same front desk. Same parking lot. No new intake process at a clinic across town, and no explaining your family's history to a stranger from scratch.
That matters more than it sounds. Kids who are anxious about a new place spend the first several sessions getting comfortable before any work happens. A child who already knows this building skips that.
Our access to the YMCA also means therapy can happen in an integrated setting, alongside peers, rather than in a room with the door shut.
What sessions look like
Sessions are built around your child's age and needs. They may include play based activities, therapeutic games, creative activities, conversation, and skill building.
Kids build real skills without it feeling like a lecture. The work looks like play from the doorway. Underneath, it is emotional regulation, problem-solving, and confidence.
Parents are part of it. When appropriate, Shelly provides consultation, education, and strategies so skills carry over at home and at school.
